Crossfit Day 5 Session

Today's WOD (workout of the day): the dirty thirty (but i actually did 20): 20 Squats, 20 sit ups, 20 Kettle Bowls (15 lbs) 20 box jumps (12 inch) 20 Burpees (my new curse word by the way) and 20 wall balls (8lb ball)  (less then 18 min!)

And dont even ask me what the lesson portion of the workout was today, cause my brain is not working well enough to remember...and,  here is a picture right after I got in the car to leave... about 10 minutes after finishing!

After leaving crossfiit, grocery shopping was a must, which I gotta say, worked out pretty well. When you find yourself debating between buying the healthy food versus the not so healthy option, it helps to have just come from crossfit. The thought kept going through my mind "If you buy this then all the work you just did would be wasted" So, I bought bananas Almonds and coconut oil (plus other things too...) and when I got home I made some banana chips, and coconut chocolate bars! (both completely paleo by the way! The Bananas are in the oven (and making my house smell so so wonderful) And the bars are hanging out in the freezer getting nice and yummy. I'll let you know how they turn out!

Pushing through.

Ok, so I woke up this morning with a horrible migraine. A migraine that has not let up all day. And now it's time for some crossfit... With blaring music and all, should be interesting.

If you feel like you are gonna die... don't.

So, Wednesday is a non crossfit day, which means i just might get thoughts and random things out on Wednesdays.

Randomness #1: Paleo
So, at school Tuesday morning a coworker (also a crossfitter) and I were talking about my experience so far, basically me complaining about the soreness I feel over my entire body, and her lending encouragement. I was sharing how I kinda am struggling with food habits (FYI, I really like chocolate, and sugar, and wine, and Potatoes... and Potatoes.) She randomly hands me a menu for the Paleo Diet. I take a quick look and first impressions? Expensive and hard, yet kinda sounds like some yummy recipes. Then, and this next comment from the wonderful Ms. Allison has become a highlight in my mind, she looks at me and says "Yea, but when you decide something, you are determined to get it done. Like when you said you were giving up caffeine, i was sure you would break down and drink coffee within a few days." (did I mention I haven't had any drinks that have caffeine since Lent started, SIX WEEKS ago. I kinda love that I have made that impression on the people around me, cause while I know it might take me awhile to make a decision,  it's because I will follow through.

So, Paleo... still not sure how full force I am going to attack it. I know that healthier choices are a must, and having a diet like Paleo on my mind would definitely help with that. Extra money to completely restock my kitchen is a little (a lot) scarce, so I'm kinda sure that for now i will stick to simply choosing the lesser of two evils, and opt for the healthier chooses in eating.

Randomness #2: No Pain, No Gain Right?
I hurt, like everywhere, no part of me is free of pain, but you know what? Its a pain that I'm alright with. The soreness tells me that I am doing something to change, which is kind of a great feeling.

Randomness #3: Best Advice
I've got to say, the last four sessions have been jam packed with loads of information (as apparent by my lack of memory of names for things, and sometimes my complete forgetting of learning things) and loads of advice. Yesterday, while Jo was going over the WOD, she is told me that it was all about getting my heartbeat up, to push through till I was finished. Which she then followed with, "Of course, If you feel like you're about to die, don't." Gotta say, this is probably the best advice I have ever received.

Crossfit session 4

You know you're in for a treat when your warm up breaks a sweat, and takes your beath away.

Lesson: push presses... And thrust presses (I think... Basically I bend my knees to press the weight...) and sumo somethings....

WOD: 21-15-9... Sumo dead lifts (maybe the name...) and push press things... Maybe one day I will remember the right names...

I have more to write... But my brain and body are exhausted... Maybe I'll catch up in the am...

The lovely Ms. Lilly! :)

Greatest support system? Friends. This was followed with a convo about grocery shopping and encouragement. Love this chick so much!

Day 3 crossfit session

Lesson: farmers hold, waitress hold, couple things on floor.. Hollow something and superman something... And thrusters.

Workout: rowed 1000 meters, 50 thrusters with 15 lb bar, and 30 ring rows...
Safe to assume a nice, warm shower is happening as soon as I get home...

Best part of today's session? Gretchen running out after me just to introduce herself and tell me great job. Gonna go ahead and assume that the reason crossfit is addicting has a lot to do with the community that is built among participates!

Daily victory: I made it through my workout!

And hopefully that whites free dinner actually pans out... It would be a complete waste if I settled for that left over pizza that's hanging out in my fridge after all that effort just now...
